It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald (Donnie) Allen Tolley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  Donald went to the Lord on May 27, 2024, at the age of 79.

Donald was born September 30, 1944, Chillicothe, Ohio, to Harry James Tolley and Marjorie (Budd) Tolley.  Donald was the third of three siblings, oldest brother Walter, James, and youngest sister Gwen.  During his father's military career and working with the federal prison system, Donald moved around a lot.  Donald went to Lewisburg High school in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania but graduated from Honey Creek High in 1962 in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Shortly after high school, Donald joined the United States Air Force and was a hydraulic mechanic and worked on various types of aircraft.  He soon found himself station in El Paso, Texas, where he met Lillian Flores Sibala.  They were married in 1965 and soon had their first son James Thomas Tolley in February 1966.  Donald was stationed at Biggs Air Field, El Paso, Texas, Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, New Mexico, MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida, Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas, and finally at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona, where he retired after 20 years of active duty service as a Master Sergeant.

Donald was highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving seven tours during the Vietnam War, in such places as Da Nang, Vietnam, Korat, Thailand, and Andersen Air Base, Guam.  Donald worked on the Boeing B-52's that participated in the Linebacker ii bombing of Vietnam.

After retiring from the military in 1983, Donald worked a few odd jobs from store clerk to soil remediation.  He loved fishing, watching NASCAR, baseball and loved his Pittsburgh Steelers.  He finally fully retired in 1995.

Donald moved to Derby, Kansas in 2004 to be closer to family.  Donald is survived by his son James; grandchildren, Christopher Tolley, Alexandria Cole, Haylee Tolley, Zachary Hall, Gavin Hall, and Anthony Tolley; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marjorie, wife Lillian, his brothers Walter and James, and great-granddaughter Jenika.

Donald will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., at a future date.  His willingness to love and help will live on the hearts of all friends and family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial donations be made in Donald's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
