Donald R. Siemer, 77, of Derby, Kansas, passed away on March 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 30th, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of the late Clarence Siemer and Isadel (Bowlus).
Donald attended Kapaun High School and later pursued a degree in business from Wichita State University. A United States Marine during the Vietnam War, he later dedicated himself to a career as a tooling engineer.
Outside of his professional life, Donald cherished time spent with his beloved family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Joan, and a loving father to his children: Pam (Joe) Hawkins, Chris, Darin, Kevin (Brenda), Alex, and Jared. As well as his grandchildren Jacob, Lauren, Zachary, Rachel, Mariella, Maxwell, Myles, Ian, and Claire. He is survived by his sisters Barbara Mohr and Mary Christopher and he is preceded in death by his brothers Joe and Clarence "Bud" Jr. and sister Kathleen Kost.
A viewing will be held on April 5th at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary at 6:30 PM at St. Vincent de Paul at 123 N Andover Rd, Andover, KS, 67002. A graveside service will take place on April 19th at 2:00 PM at Burns Cemetery (Highway 77 and Alfalfa Rd, Burns, KS 66840), followed by a gathering to celebrate Donald's life at his home at 11100 E 47th St S, Derby, KS, 67037 at 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to AbilityPoint (formerly known as the ARC of Sedgwick County, that serves Kansas individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities), in Donald's honor at abilitypoint.org.
Donald R. Siemer will be remembered for his loyalty, his quick wit, and his generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved beyond measure and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
