Dona Beth
Larimer
December 28, 1955 — October 26, 2024
El Dorado
Dona Beth Larimer, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at her home in the comforting presence of her beloved husband, Jeff and children Lane and Lacy. Born on December 28, 1955, in Mulvane, Kansas, Dona was the cherished daughter of Donald Leon and Mary Beth (Short) Lawless. Raised in the countryside of Mulvane, Dona grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the small-town community that shaped her compassionate spirit and welcoming heart.
Dona graduated from Mulvane High School in 1973, embarking on a journey of ambition and kindness that would define her life. She attended Butler Community College, pursuing a degree in business while working at T.G.&Y., a role that honed her dedication and sense of service. Fate brought her together with Jeff Larimer in 1974, and the two fell deeply in love, marrying on August 16, 1975. This union marked the beginning of a devoted partnership and a family life filled with love, faith, and warmth.
Throughout her life, Dona embraced her roles with passion and integrity. She worked at Walnut Valley, Butler Community College, and Wichita State University, often dedicating her efforts to helping students access education through financial aid. Later, she managed Butler's Fire Science Program, guiding students with encouragement and support. Her colleagues admired her for her strength and her gentle, caring nature.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dona enriched the lives of everyone she met. An avid knitter and a talented cook, she often found herself in the kitchen, baking treats that filled her home with warmth and sweetness. She even shared her love for baking by teaching classes, passing on her skills with patience and joy. Known for her open heart, Dona made friends with ease, treating everyone she encountered like family and becoming a "second mom" to many of her children's friends.
Dona leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff; her son, Lane Larimer; her daughter, Lacy Kellerman(Josh); and her treasured grandchildren: Bronson Larimer, Colt Larimer, Finnley Kellerman, Ridge Kellerman, and McCain Kellerman. She is also survived by her brother, Dan Lawless, and a host of family and friends who loved her deeply. She joins her beloved parents, Donald and Mary Beth, in eternal peace.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Dona's life will be held on November 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Blankenship Cemetery in Rosalia, Kansas. Those who knew and loved Dona will gather to remember her, to share stories of her grace and laughter, and to carry forward the love she gave so freely.
Dona's life was a testament to love, faith, and kindness, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose spirit will remain a cherished memory.
