ATKINS, DAVID RAY "DAVE", 64 , Head Maintenance Carpenter at WSU, passed away on December 23, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Dave was born on December 23, 1955 in Wichita to William Daniel and Barbara Joyce "Vantuyl" Atkins. He married Debbie Johnson on April 21, 1983 at the WSU Chapel in Wichita and they spent the next 35+ years together. Dave was a very down to earth, loving, caring individual that loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren with a fiery passion. He also had an ornery streak that will be remembered and missed. When Dave graduated he began college at WSU and even played football his first semester; after that semester he learned that he wasn't going to recieve a scholarship so he applied for a job at the maintenance plant and spent the next 42 years there. Dave was a Boy Scout when he was young and went on to be a Boy Scout Leader and was a huge WSU Basketball and Baseball fan; but only during the Gene Stephenson era; but his team that he lived for was the Kansas City Chiefs. He didn't miss a game even after he got sick.

D ave is survived by his loving wife Debbie; mother Barbara; children Ryan Atkins, Stacey Marshall, and Tory Perez (Jason); his brother Michael and his twin brother Daniel Atkins; grandchildren Christian, Briana, David, Wrayne, Dominic, Wreed and Bella; great grandchildren Titan, Ellie, Azalea and Brayden; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father William; sister Kathy Cygiel and granddaughter Lilly.
