With heavy hearts, the family of Darlene L Waymire announces her death on Oct 27, 2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by her sons and caregivers at Homestead. She was born January 5, 1931, in El Dorado, KS to Clyde and Lillian Spires, the second of four children. She was a lifetime resident of El Dorado. She was a member of First Christian Church and devoted much of her time at the church. She retired from the Kansas Turnpike Authority and then volunteered several years at the hospital after retirement. She was married to Fred Waymire, and they had four sons together.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Clifford and Clyde, son David, and grandson Joseph. Survivors include her sister Phyllis, sons Frederick, James (Sharon), and Dennis (Gayla), grandchildren Cody, James, Shannon, and Allison, and great-grandchildren, Lily and Cash.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on November 6, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home, 206 E. Central Ave. in El Dorado, KS.
