A nderson, Darlene Lavon, 82, passed away on August 26, 2018, surrounded by family in her home. She was born July 27, 1936 in Dawson, Minnesota to Harvey and Cora Upton.

S he grew up on a farm south of town and attended and graduated from Marietta High School in Marietta, Minnesota. Later, Darlene taught school in Canby, Minnesota and later became a substitue teacher until her children graduated from high school. She enjoyed keeping her mind sharp through various games she taught to many children in school. She couldn't resist taking the time to volunteer at Cow Town in Wichita, participate in the local Red Hats, and put together a good puzzle. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Andover, Kansas. Darlene and her husband were blessed to have two children of their own: daughter Yvonne Recchio (Robert) of Andover and son Randy Anderson (Michelle) of Sierra Vista, Arizona.  She is also survived by three grandchildren: Michael Recchio, Kylee Anderson and Shelby Anderson; and three great grandchildren: Evan Recchio, Liam Recchio and Amelia Recchio.

D arlene was married to John Anderson of Revillo, South Dakota, for 45 years, who preceded her in death in 2000. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life as a wonderful mother, wife, and friend.
