MA LCOM, CHARLES EDWIN, 94 went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Alverna, on March 30, 2022 surrounded by his family at home. Born in Andover, Kansas to Robert "Lee" and Edith (Allred) Malcom, November 28, 1927. He married Alverna Mills on June 5, 1949 and they made their home in Andover, KS where they raised three children. Charles had an entrepreneurial spirit and was involved in everything from hauling hay, digging ditches, and building silos to farming, raising cattle, running the road grader, and driving and maintaining Andover School buses. He worked briefly at Boeing and Beechcraft before becoming the owner and operator of Malcom Auto Center. After retiring from "the Garage", he obtained his license and became a real estate agent. He enjoyed construction and built nine homes in the Andover area. He built and remodeled houses for his children. He was a member of the Andover Chamber of Commerce, served on the Andover City Council, City of Andover Planning Board and volunteered at the Andover Historical Museum. He coined the City of Andover slogan, "It's Home To Me". He was active at his church as usher, choir member and used his handyman skills to install ceilings, build sets for plays, keep equipment running and many other projects. He was with Gideon International and traveled to New York City on a Gideon mission trip. He went on mission trips with his church to Mexico and Scotland. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and frequently rode at Chadwick Off-Road Park in Missouri. He made a 2007 trip to Baja in his Ural Motorcycle and took a Ural motorcycle backroad tour in Russia in 2013. Even when busy running a business he took his family on frequent vacations including the New York World's Fair, Yellowstone, hiking the Grand Canyon and many trips to California. He enjoyed using the family boat skiing on weekends. Charles & Alverna travelled extensively to all 50 states, Israel and the United Kingdom. Charles never knew a stranger and engaged in conversation with everyone until he found a common connection with them. His generosity and willingness to help everyone touched many lives.

harles is preceded in death by his wife, Alverna Malcom; his parents, Robert and Edith
Malcom; brothers Jared "Dick" Malcom and Robert Malcom; sister Patricia Rahal and
grandson Aaron Malcom. He is survived by his brother, Max Malcom, Wichita, KS; sister,
Virginia Bontz, Plano, TX; 3 children, Ronald Malcom (Luellen), Keith Malcom, and Linda Gregg
(Len Sr.), all of Andover, KS; 7 grandchildren, Leah Parsons (Joshua), Huntingtown, Maryland,
Lauren Carter (Patrick), Wichita, KS, Reid Malcom (Kanya), Wichita, KS, Len Gregg, Jr. (Cara),
Maize, KS, Allison Gregg, Houston, TX, John Gregg, Augusta, KS, and Alexander Gregg,
Houston, TX, 8 great-grandchildren, Ava Crabtree, Ryder Malcom, Thomas Elias, Jacob
Malcom, Annalisa Gregg, Benjamin Parsons, Ireland Parsons, and Megan Gregg.
V isitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Sunday, April 3rd at Heritage Funeral Home, 502 W. Central Ave., Andover, KS 67002. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday. April 4th at 10:00 am at GraceFirst, 14725 E. Harry St., Wichita, KS 67230.
I n lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Union Rescue Mission, 2800 N. Hillside St., Wichita, KS 67219.
