BORG, CAROLYN YVONNE, 82 , of Andover, Kan., passed away on Oct. 2, 2019. Carolyn was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Douglass, Kan., the daughter of Leslie and Wilda (Fleischauer) Maixner.  She worked on the farm with her parents and younger brothers. She graduated from Douglass High School, where she was involved in music. She later met Leland Edward Borg, whom she married Aug. 13, 1955, in Douglass, Kan. Leland served in the United States Army, so they moved several times living across the country from Texas to Pennsylvania. They came back to Missouri and Kansas to raise their family. One of Carolyn's great joys was caring for children and babies, whether it was in her home or the church nursery. She was gifted with musical talents and enjoyed listening to bluegrass, country and gospel music.  She had a green thumb with everything she touched; her lawn was full of trees and vibrant flowers.  Another love of Carolyn's was her birds. She had several pet birds including love birds, conures, cockatiels, finches, canaries, and more, and she also entertained all the wild birds of the neighborhood with feeders and bird baths in her yard.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Andover, Kan., where she served faithfully in the children's ministry for many years.

C arolyn is survived by her brothers Gary Maixner and Leslie Maixner, sons James (Shirley) Borg, Richard (Venus) Borg, Steven (Barbara) Borg, and daughter Joyce (Casey) Apsley.  She has five grandchildren Cassandra (Jason) Reese, Heather Borg, Hunter Borg, Jayce (Brandon) Winters, and Jacob Apsley and two great-grandchildren Joanna Reese and Benjamin Winters and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Wilda Maixner, and her husband, Leland Borg.

T he family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater, Kan., and Good Shepherd Hospice in Newton, Kan., for their loving care of Carolyn in her final years.

V isitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 and funeral services follow at 10:00 a.m., both at Faith Baptist Church, 417 W. Central Ave., Andover, Kansas, with graveside services to follow at Greenwich Cemetery at 37th and Webb Rd., at 1:00 p.m.
