Burton "Butch"
Irvin Mcjunkin Iii
January 8, 1952 — November 22, 2023
Garfield
Burton "Butch" Irvin McJunkin III peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas surrounded by family and loved ones. Butch was born on January 8, 1952 in Great Bend, Kansas to the late Helen O'Bannon McJunkin and Burton McJunkin Jr.
A graduate of Great Bend High School, Class of 1970, Butch briefly attended Barton County Community College before beginning a technology based career with many organizations such as Multimedia CableVision, Farmland Industries, American Gaming Systems, and Panasonic just to name a few. While maintaining full time employment, he volunteered his time assisting seniors at Lakeview Village with their technology needs, which brought him great joy. After retiring, he returned to Larned, Kansas and joined the team of Prisoner Transport Services as a driver. This was so meaningful to him and gave him many hours of happiness.
He married the love of his life and his wife of 44 years Carol Moore on November 22, 1979. This union brought forth two children, Joshua Michael and Michael Paul, both born in Salina, Kansas.
He was an avid member of The Walter S. Chears Post and Squadron 106, where he served as the current secretary and a member for many years. He volunteered vigorously with the Heartland Weimaraner Rescue and supported Pheasants Forever.
He is survivied by his loving wife, Carol Moore McJunkin, two sons, Joshua Michael (Natisha) of Dallas, TX and Michael Paul and his partner Stedmond Ware both of Kansas City, MO, one beautiful grand daughter Whitley Parker (Daughter of Josh and Natisha), one sister, Gail Dean Dwyer of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and a host of family and friends through out Southwest Kansas and beyond.
A dedicated husband, father, friend, hard worker and humanitarian, Butch leaves an enduring legacy of humor, giving unselfishly to others, and leaving a lasting impression to all he met. He truly was one of a kind and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Butch's life will be held at a later time after the first of the year. The family would like to send a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Wesley Medical Center ICU team, the numerous health agencies and first responders, The Hall, Hirsh, Cauble, and Schaulis family, and all who contributed during Butch's many weeks in the hospital. You will long be remembered and held in the highest regard.
