SHUGART, BONNIE BEATRICE. 94, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Villa Maria in Mulvane. Bonnie was born on March 28, 1925 to Onus and Irene (Middleton) Clemence. Her family moved to Arkansas where she was raised and attended college with her younger sister. Before she went off to college Bonnie taught school in a one room schoolhouse until her sister was old enough to attend college with her. Bonnie moved to Wichita and married Leonard Herschel Shugart at the First Baptist Church in Wichita on June 29, 1951. She worked at Bemis Bag Co., T,G & Y and Harmon Bus Company and attended Wichita Business School all while raising her children.

B onnie loved baking; especially cherry pies; canning, quilting, needlepoint, oil painting and gardening and flowers, especially her honeysuckles. She was a sports fanatic; very much enjoying baseball and anything KU; and loved to dance, at home, to music with her husband and children. Bonnie loved playing cards (Rook especially as it was the family game) and is remembered as a little competitive; often saying if you're not playing to win then don't play; her favorites were ChickenFoot and Dominoes. Leonard and Bonnie were members at Riverview Baptist where Bonnie was very active and had many solos in the choir. She will be remembered as a sweet, quiet, strong willed, loving mother and grandmother; a true matriarch.

B onnie is survived by her children Brenda Kay Solter(David), Cathy Sue Lent(Chris) and Teresa Ann Allen(Randy); siblings Leon Clemence(Karen) and Gerald Lee Clemence(Christine); grandchildren Andrew Solter, Brandon Solter, Amanda Solter, Nathan Shugart, Stacey Rand, Michael Lent, Alex Lent, Mason Lent, Nicholas Shugart, Charlie Navarro and Annjolee Allen; 14 great grandchildren and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 2007; her son Gary Shugart in 2015 and siblings Juanita Dodsen and Dale Clemence.

F uneral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Generations Church, 425 Greenvalley Dr., Andover with Pastor Leon Hiebert officiating. Interment will follow at Kechi Cemetery, 6500 N. Hillside, Kechi.
