Bonnie Skelton
Crawford
August 21, 1935 — January 10, 2025
Benton
Bonnie Skelton Crawford peacefully left this earth on January 10, 2025. She was 89 years old.
Bonnie was born in Channing, Texas, in her grandmother's house, on August 21, 1935, to William Skelton & Vicki Valdez. Bill later married Rita Skelton, who was a devoted stepmother to Bonnie.
Bonnie enjoyed a childhood in the Texas countryside. Bonnie was a very intelligent young girl. In high school, she enjoyed playing basketball and graduated as Valedictorian of her class.
On June 1, 1952, Bonnie married her sweetheart, Alvin Crawford. Bonnie & Alvin had four boys. Together, the family moved to different parts of the United States, finally settling in Benton, Kansas in 1973.
Bonnie was a wonderful homemaker managing a house full of growing boys, which was no easy task, but she rose to the occasion with faith, humor, and love. After her two oldest boys left home, Bonnie attended Neosho Community College in Chanute, Kansas, and would take on the occasional job outside the home, as needed.
Bonnie loved sewing and crafting. Her specialty was making Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls for her grandchildren. Bonnie also loved writing poetry. She was a Christian woman who was devoted to her faith. But by far, the greatest joy in Bonnie's life was being a mother.
Bonnie was a kind soul who loved her animals as much as her children. She was a patient person who always had time for you, always had a smile, and always looked for the good in everyone.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her father William Skelton, stepmother Rita Skelton, brother Jim Skelton, and beloved son Cody Crawford. She leaves behind her brother Jay Skelton and sister Becky Crumpton, sons Dr. Lynn Crawford (of Kansas City), Stephen Crawford (of El Dorado), Kyle Crawford (of Benton), and daughter-in-law Candy Crawford (of Benton), and nine grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank her neighbor, Karen Kennedy, who was a devoted friend and companion to Bonnie in her final years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67219, or by clicking on this link: https://give.kshumane.org/give/372955/#!/donation/checkout
