Betty Dot (Greenstreet) Utterback, "Nana" was born on October 31, 1925, the first child to Burl and Shelby Beryl Greenstreet in Hutchinson, KS. She peacefully went to be with her Lord, January 30, 2025 at home with her family, in League City, Texas at the age of 99.

Born in Hutchinson Ks she studied piano from a young age. She was blessed with a sister almost 10 years later, who she dutifully taught to sing and dance while she played. They were known for performing in Hutchinson. After high school, and in war times of 1943, she took the train to be with her high school sweetheart, Joe Utterback, who had been drafted into the Army/Air Force. He had written her love letters, and then proposed by letter. They were married in NYC at "The Little Church Around The Corner", November 6, 1943. During their time in NYC they enjoyed seeing the sights of the big city on weekends. While not in Hutchinson as she would have wanted, it was customary for many couples to marry before their husbands were sent overseas. Fortunately however, instead of overseas, Joe was transferred to Oklahoma City and Denver, and then they returned to Hutchinson and started their family of 3 children, Joe Jr., Mike, and Cynthia. They lived in many places including, Oklahoma City, Denver, Hutchinson, Kansas City, Ft. Worth, and finally Wichita. Joe Sr. passed away July 1, 1965 in an auto accident and Betty spent several weeks in the hospital recovering from many critical injuries.

Betty's desire to go to college returned after her recovery. She had attended one semester at Wichita State University before the accident, and returned to obtain her BS in Music Education, as well as her Master's degree in Music. After graduation in 1971, she took her first flight to a job interview and moved to Denver. There she taught at the Maher Music School. One year later she accepted a college position for Southwest Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, TX for three years, then left to teach at and attend Christ For The Nations Bible School in Dallas, Texas, fulfilling her desire to earn an Associate Degree. During this time she attended Oak Cliff Assembly of God making many friends not only at the Bible College but also church. In 1978 she returned home to Wichita to be with family, especially her two children, two granddaughters and two soon to be born grandsons.

Betty was a private piano teacher for over 50 years, teaching hundreds of students. She played at The Candle Club and Kwan Court restaurants. She belonged to the Piano Teachers League in Wichita. As a child, she attended First Christian Church and later accepted Jesus as Savior as a young married woman, after much Bible reading. She played the piano and organ for church services at Central Assembly of God, Andover Assembly of God, and Park Place Assembly of God until at age 90.

She loved nature and walking, earning a Certificate for being in the "Four Mile Club" walking three times a week at Town East Mall. Being creative, she started putting personalized words to music for each grandchild's graduation, wedding, and births. The family still sings them on occasion. Betty loved to write and completed her "Life Story" in her 70's and presented each family with the book detailing her memories, family tree, and pictures. She also completed a "Grandma" book detailing her memories & pictures for the grandchildren. For each of her own

children, she compiled a personalized book about them with memories, letters home, and pictures. She presented their book on a special milestone birthday to each of them.

Music, the Bible, prophecy books/speakers, and her family were her life long loves. She played at several nursing homes where she ministered with Pastor Leon Heibert, all while playing for Sunday church services too. Later in life she was privileged to travel to Israel, as well as Washington DC, Branson, Niagara Falls and Devils Tower and many other places.

At the age of 90, she gave up her car and driving, moving to League City, TX to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Her last nine years were in League City, and were filled with playing for family, whether in person or by phone for our birthdays & holidays. When she was able, she traveled to Wichita or Atlanta to see grandchildren and great grandchildren, or the homes of her grandchildren in League City and laughing, singing and playing were always involved. She especially loved to play duets with her oldest son Joe! She loved the movie, E.T. and even had a costume made and wore it to give out candy at Halloween with her grandson's family. With this costume, she fulfilled her wish to play E.T. in a play with her grandson's family. Her sister, niece, and other family members can be heard clapping and cheering in the audience. This play was put onto You Tube and can be seen at the following link: https://youtu.be/n5QosQnGCv4. It is titled "Grandma Turns 91!!! Birthday wish to play E.T."

In her last 9 years in Texas, she was able to attend church services, BSF Bible Study, and Grief Share with her daughter when her health allowed. She made many new friends there and enjoyed entertaining the Grief Share group with music many times. She still enjoyed swimming, getting in the hot tub, walking on the beach and getting in the ocean, and even danced at her grandson's wedding in Jamaica in her 90's.

Betty is survived by her children Joe Jr., (Joey) Utterback, Mike (Mikey) & Susan Utterback, and Cynthia (Cincy) Nail. It seems everyone had a cherished nickname. Her sister Ruth Ann Messner(Little Sit) & brother in law Roe, 5 grandchildren, Danelle Nail Hammond(Doug), Kristi Utterback Hosty(Jamie), Jeff Utterback (deceased), Jason Nail(Beverly), & Jared Nail(Melinda).
